Bishop T.D. Jakes visit to Kenya
On 19th January 2005, American telecast and motivational speaker, Bishop T.D. Jakes stepped on the Kenyan soil for the first time. To receive him at Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport were his hosts, Bishop Mark & Joyce Kariuki and a team of Evangelical pastors from the city. Bishop Jakes signed the visitor's book and had a press conference at the airport's lounge before the convoy drove through the city's main streets to the Grand Regency Hotel.

INAUGURATION OF WELLS

The inauguration of three boreholes sunk in three different parts of the Rift Valley Province was the main reason for Bishop Jakes' visit to Kenya. The boreholes were sunk in West Pokot's Sigor and Kacheliba constituencies and Baringo North constituency in Baringo District.

The decision to drill water in these areas was arrived at after a team from the Potter's House and Deliverance Church Nakuru visited the area during the relief food distribution exercise last year. The drilling of the boreholes was a partnership between the Deliverance Church Ministry and the Potter's House Church, Dallas, Texas.

PASTORS' BREAKFAST & EXECUTIVES DINNER

On 20th January, Bishop Jakes hosted a breakfast meeting at the Hotel for the Pastors and Bishops. He challenged them to lead the flock to the green pastures as the great shepherd, Jesus Christ, does. Over five hundred pastors from different denominations attended the breakfast. In the course of the day, he had an opportunity to visit the Nairobi National Park and the Museum. He also visited the Uhuru Park where he desires to conduct a crusade in future. In the evening, he hosted a dinner at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre's Plenary Hall for Business Executives and Professionals attended by over one thousand business executives and leaders. Speaking at the dinner, Bishop Jakes shared some insights on Strategic Alliances in Business. Strategic alliances are crucial for any individual to see his/her dream come to fulfilment. No business dream shall come to pass unless the dreamer partners or comes into an agreement with another person, "Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven."Mathew 18:19

To be effective in business, one has to observe these four principles:

1. Morality
Where there is no morality, businesses and trade suffer,"Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people." Proverbs 14:34 Its time for righteous people to rise up and do ethical business. When ethics suffer, the economy suffers devastation. There has to be the rebirthing and resurfacing of ethics in business for us to form strategic alliances.

2. Manufacturing
Every gifted human being has something that they can manufacture. Manufacturing means taking something in seed form and bringing it to fruition, it means moving from the seed of an idea to the manufacturing of a reality. Its the Father's good pleasure to give you of the kingdom. He is a God of multiplication.

3. Management
The success of any business is a direct product of the management of resources at its disposal. A business's resources may be in the form of finances, information, human, inventory etc and they all need to be managed in a prudent manner inorder to meet the objectives of the business.

4. Marketing
This is a very important principle in business because people cannot buy what they don't know exists, they've got to be informed of its existence.Jesus said,"No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light. Luke 11:33 Put your business in the light so that all people may see what you're offering. Only then shall you be able to sell.
