» Leadership Role in Deliverance Church Kenya

Deliverance Church Kenya is divided into nine regions. Each region is headed by a regional overseer. Deliverance Church Nakuru is in the Central Rift Region and in the course of ministry Bishop Mark served as the Regional Overseer in this region for a period of 16 years. During this period, Deliverance Church Kenya was under the leadership of Bishop William Tuimising. After many years of service to the Lord as Deliverance Church's General Overseer, Bishop William Tuimising felt the need to pass on the ministry's leadership to someone else and God had already shown him who was to succeed him.

It came as a surprise to Bishop Mark Kariuki that God would entrust him with the leadership of the entire Deliverance Church Kenya Ministry. On 26th November 2000, he was inaugurated as the Bishop and General Overseer of Deliverance Church Kenya in a colorful ceremony held in the Nyayo National Stadium, Nairobi, a position he holds to date. Being the presiding Bishop and General Overseer of Deliverance Church Kenya, he oversees and provides fatherhood to over 700 pastors in this ministry across the land.

As the General Overseer, he is actively involved in the fight against HIV/AIDS by awareness creation and advocacy for abstinence including surveys to determine the extent of the problem, instituting home based care and developing a HIV/AIDS policy for Deliverance Church Kenya. Bishop Mark has also added his voice to the National concerns about abortion and the inclusion of Kadhi's courts in the Constitution of Kenya.

Since Bishop Mark Kariuki took over four years ago as General Overseer to Deliverance Church Kenya, the church has experienced tremendous growth in terms of the number of congregations across the land. At the time of inauguration, there were 450 congregations, currently there are over 700 congregations. He has also been able to establish the Deliverance Church Secretariat in Nairobi and plans are underway to purchase our premises to house the secretariat. Last year, the ministry saw some 43 pastors being ordained and 5 Bishops consecrated into the Apostolic Council in a most glorious manner.   ¤
