Drilling of Boreholes is a special project under the We Care Community Development Assistance Program, an initiative of Deliverance Church Nakuru designed to impact communities in Kenya with the love and compassion of Christ through various projects.

Part of the dream and vision that Bishop Mark Kariuki and the Deliverance Church, Nakuru family have is to provide water to communities around the country who have difficulty in accessing clean water. A survey conducted last year during the Relief Food Distribution exercise shows that most of the areas that were adversely affected by food shortage in the country have been experiencing inadequate rains in the recent years.

There is therefore a great need to provide water in these areas in a bid to find a lasting solution to the water shortage challenge facing residents living in these parts of the country. So far, three boreholes have been sunk in Kacheliba and Sigor constituencies in West Pokot and Baringo North constituency in Baringo District. These are semi - arid areas in Kenya's Rift Valley province and are areas that experience insufficient rains making it difficult for people there to cultivate the land.

Drilling of these boreholes was a partnership between the Deliverance Church Ministry and the Potter's House Church, Dallas, Texas and were inaugurated in January 2005 by Bishop Mark Kariuki and Bishop T.D. Jakes of the Potter's House.

Plans are underway to drill more boreholes in other parts of the country which include Eastern province where there is acute water shortage. The Lord has made it possible for the church to have its own drilling machine (see photos).

It's costing us some USD. 15,000 to sink one borehole, an investment we consider worth making in bringing change to the communities living in Kenya today. We believe that by providing water, we'll be taking a huge step towards solving the famine problem in the land because people can practise irrigation hence making the arid areas productive.
